Cruiser Administration

We are all aware of the need to keep administration to a minimum as we all wish to be out sailing not form filling. So with this maxim in mind we have attempted to keep the admin as simple as possible.

Confirm your booking by E mail to David Smithson he will then send you formal confirmation. You may find the following of use:-

Crew details

Prior to the Charter it is the responsibility of the skipper to advise David Smithson, copy to Andy Morrill,  of the name and membership number of each member of the crew together with a brief itinerary. Ideally the information should be sent by E mail but may be sent as hard copy to 67 Dorling Drive, Ewell, Epsom, Surrey KT17 3BH and 12 Winchester Hill Cottages, Winchester Hill, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, Hants, SO21 3NZ respectively. The information should be supplied at least 7 days before the start of the cruise. Any late changes should be advised by E mail or telephone 0208 394 1692 & 07775 541 653 respectively.  It is not necessary to supply details of an emergency contact as these are now held on the Club database to which both David and Andy have access.

Arriving on board

Please take some time to look through the Handbook and the Standing Instructions contained within.  Also please note that it is specifically the skipper's responsibility to ensure that none of the crew suffer from any medical condition which may prevent, or impact on, their sailing. Particular attention must be paid to the needs of poor or non swimmers.

Inventory

The inventory should be checked in detail to ensure that all items shown are on board. Checking the inventory also ensures that you know the location of any important items of equipment if they are needed in a hurry. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of the hull and decks. Any shortcomings should be noted in the little “Blue Book”,

The boat should be found in good and clean order but any serious shortcomings should be reported to Glenn Stevens on 07740 284 526

Damage & Deficiencies

During, but particularly at the end of, your charter any damage or deficiencies should be noted in the little “Blue Book” which will be found on board. This will alert crews following to any problems. Following the end of the charter please advise Glenn Stevens by E mail of any damage or deficiencies (nil returns are required), this E mail should be sent within 48 hours of the end of the charter. If you prefer the Damage & Deficiency Report may be posted to him at 181 Albury Road, Mertsham, Surrey RH1 3LW  Any major problems should be advised to Glenn on 07740 284 526 or Andy Morrill on 0777 5541 653 or in their absence David Smithson on 0208 3941692. The action to be taken will be agreed with you.

Skippers' Handover Sheet

This must be completed, signed and left on board for the next crew. Please also remember that as a Club we have always worked on the basis that a crew should leave a boat better than they found it. Near enough is simply not good enough!
